Food at Cameron’s Orphanage
When it comes to food at Cameron’s orphanage, we understand that a balanced diet is crucial for teenagers, impacting both their mental clarity and physical vitality.
At Cameron’s Orphanage, we are dedicated to serving wholesome meals that not only satisfy appetites but also enrich the body and spirit. Our passionate team works diligently to curate a varied menu, brimming with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. We inspire our mamas and children to discover new tastes and adopt healthy eating practices that will benefit them for years to come.
In the heart of rural Zambia, maize forms the cornerstone of their everyday diet, enjoyed either as whole kernels boiled to perfection (sample) or as ground maize transformed into a porridge-like dish known as Nshima.
To provide a balanced diet, alongside traditional food, we grow vegetables in our garden and buy other vegetables and fruit form the local market.
Protein is provide by meat, (chicken or beef) fresh and dried fish, eggs and Soya chunks.
Our mission goes beyond just providing meals; we also prioritise educating our mamas and children on the significance of nutrition with essential gardening and cooking skills.
Food at Cameron’s Orphanage is more than mere sustenance; it is a powerful means to connect, learn, and grow together.
