Algie, Hector, Jaxson and Henry raise funds for new school desks
Four of the students from Hurstpierpoint College, who visited Cameron’s Orphanage during the 2024 student expedition have been busy raising funds to buy new desks for Itala Foundation Community School, part of Cameron’s Orphanage Project.
The £1500 they have raised will buy 40 new desks. This will equip one of the new classrooms with new desks, helping with the current overcrowding in the school. The school now has 1800 pupils with up to 120 children in a class.
The desks are being manufactured by Robson Njovu, the local welder, who’s workshop is opposite the school. The money raised not only provides desks for the school, it is providing much needed work for Robson and his family.
A massive thank you to Algie, Hector, Jaxson and Henry as well as all our other sponsors, fundraisers and donors, every donation makes a difference to so many people in Mkushi.
