Ready for Take-Off! Donations sorted and packed

Over a quarter tonne of donations has been prepped and packed for the expedition team to fly out to Mkushi next week. Our sorting fairy godmother Tanya Wenstrom, and daughter Freya, from John Tanous UK are unstoppable.  Our appeal for goods was met with overwhelming generosity and so we can’t wait to get the donations over there and see the happy faces as we issue much appreciated items to the orphanage and wider community.  A special thank you to Hazelwood school for some fabulous craft kits – I’m sure the children at Cam’s Orphanage are going to have enormous fun getting creative. Watch this space for photos and feedback from the expedition team.

Tanya has obviously inhaled a little too much fairy dust, as she has now volunteered to sort the remaining items ready for the next expedition team. Head over to the Volunteer section of the website if you’re interested or contact us via the Get in Touch Link at the bottom of each web page.

If you would like to donate goods, we are always grateful to receive. Please drop of at Unit 2, Valley Farm Business Park, Reeds Lane, Sayers Common BN6 9JQ or at Hurst College Senior School Reception.

Items always of use include:

  • Old suitcases, rucksacks, holdalls – these are used to transport the donations out in and then used as wardrobes, cupboards and even baby cots in the local community once empty
  • Children’s and adult clothing
  • Tracksuits
  • Robust, non-battery toys
  • Educational toys
  • Old Smart phones, iPads and laptops ( we can wipe clean and install basic operating systems)
  • Sports clothing
  • Pencil cases
  • Paper
  • Colouring books
  • Old musical instruments
  • Trainers
  • Old leather shoes
  • Work boots
  • Towels
  • Bedding
  • Electric table top double ring hobs
