Sustainability – What we are doing to make the Orphanage self sustaining

What we are doing to make the Orphanage self sustaining.

Our long term goal is to make Cameron’s Orphanage Project self sustaining for a couple of reasons:

  1. It will be empowering for the local community if some of the funds are generated in and buy the local community
  2. We will not be around for ever and we wish Cameron’s legacy to continuity!

To meet this long term goal we are setting up various projects that can

  • Teach skills to the children and locals
  • Make a profit to help fund the Orphanage

We have a number of projects in place, so far:

  1. Brick making
  2. Maize farming
  3. Chicken breeding
  4. Fruit farming
  5. Orphanage garden
  6. Market garden

The number one priority with all the projects is to feed the children a healthy and varied diet. Then if we have surplus we can sell this to help raise funds locally to support the orphanage.

We will post further information about each project and keep you up-to-date with progress.
